About the Speaker
In 2018, LaToya Morgan inked a
new multi-year overall deal with AMC to write and
develop new series for the network. Born and raised
in Los Angeles, Morgan is a graduate of the American
Film Institute Conservatory where she received a
MFA in Screenwriting. She’s an alumna of several
prestigious fellowships including the Warner Bros.
Television Writers’ Workshop, the Producers
Guild Power of Diversity Fellowship, Film Independent’s
Producer’s Lab, and the WGA’s Feature
Access Project. She’s been a writer on Shameless,
Parenthood, Complications, TURN: Washington’s
Spies, and Into the Badlands where she’s also
a Co-Executive Producer.
Staying in the AMC fold, Morgan signed a new, multi-year
overall deal with the network. Under the pact, Morgan
will develop new series. She is currently penning
the pilot for They Can’t Kill Us All based
on the best-selling non-fiction book about the formation
of the Black Lives Matter movement as well as the
popular science fiction series WOOL based on the
novels by Hugh Howey. In addition, she will oversee
an inclusion initiative for AMC, in which she will
supervise and mentor diverse emerging writers for
development.
On the feature front, Morgan adapted the popular
crime novel Two Minute Rule for Original Film and
her spec crime thriller Carried By Six is being
produced by Barry Josephson with Matt Ruskin (Crown
Heights) directing. Morgan serves on the WGA Inclusion
and Equity Group committee and is a member of the
Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Morgan
is represented by CAA.
