About the Event
Are you producing or pitching a feature film
or TV show (or slate of projects) and have questions
about the legal aspects? Are you looking to
gain insights about production deals, talent
deals, or development related issues as it pertains
to contract negotiation, budgets, scheduling,
and other business affairs issues. If you are
a writer, producer, actor, musician or content
creator, this is a great opportunity to get
tips on labor, production and financing matters.
This is an intimate event that
you do not want to miss! All participants will
have an opportunity to ask candid questions
directly to the speaker!
About the Speaker
Dan Freedman is an Executive Vice President
of Business and Legal Affairs for the Lionsgate
Motion Picture Group. In this role,
Freedman oversees deal and contract negotiations
and administration on behalf of Lionsgate and
Summit, as well as subsidiaries Good Universe
and Ghost House Pictures. He is involved in
all development and production-related matters,
including deal architecture, budgets, scheduling,
clearances, and the distribution and exploitation
of each film on which he works. Additionally,
Freedman is responsible for supervising outside
counsel involved in all labor, production, and
financing matters. Prior to Lionsgate, Freedman
was Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs
for MGM, and Senior Vice President of Business
and Legal Affairs for both Mandate Films and
Good Universe. Freedman has been with Lionsgate
since 2017, after its acquisition of Good Universe.
Freedman received a B.A. in Political Science
with a minor in Communications from the University
of Arizona. He received a J.D. from Loyola Law
School in Los Angeles, where he was an editor
for the International & Comparative Law
Journal and was a member of the Entertainment
Law Society.
